For many years I have wanted to run a bed and breakfast on the water. I enjoy staying in places that feel like homes more than hotels. My favorites are ones that invite mother nature to be central to the visit.
In 2002 I was lucky enough to become the proud owner of this fine little waterfront cottage on inner quartermaster harbor on Vashon Island. We started enjoying it from day one. It was the week of the forth of July and immediately we had over 30 people over to celebrate. Family and friends alike enjoyed a fire on the beach and food galore from the grill as well as a fireworks show that rivaled any I have seen before.
After settling in, Joe and I started working on projects. We now have a child safe porch and stairs, a well lit grilling area, and the best feature... a fabulous deck and stairs overlooking the water.
Finally we worked on the yard to simplify it and beautify it. After a zillion trips to various nurseries, we finally have the start to a garden that should mature nicely. The roses produce like crazy and the grape vines completely covered the new arbor this past summer.
We've been enjoying each of these projects together as well as sunsets and evening dinners on the deck for almost three years.
Now it is time to share it all with you as our guests. We hope that you will find it a warm and relaxing place to spend time with family and friends year after year.
